Total Immersion Gaming
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be immersed in a game? Where you could interact with the other characters and go on awesome adventures? Dungeons and Dragons allows you to do just that. The amazing thing about this table top roleplaying game is that you can be as immersive as you want.
When I first started playing D&D two years ago, I was intrigued by the level of creativity it brought. There was so much to learn and so much I could do with it. I will admit, the learning curve was hard for me at first. But, once I got the hang of it, I realized that the creativity around it was endless. My husband and I started getting into 3D printing because of it. How cool would it be to actually make your own figurines and then paint them how you wanted them painted? Or, how amazing would it be to make the scenes come to life with different elements such as little trees or mountains? Now, we haven't gotten that far with our creativity yet, but it's definitely something we want to do in the future.
Creativity doesn't have to just be in the terrain or the characters, though. It can be through the campaign itself. There are many ways to customize a group of adventurers and how they interact with each other. For example, we are going through a campaign right now where the heroes are all monsters. It makes for an interesting group and makes the campaign that much more enjoyable. When we play, I never really know what to expect or how my dragon character will respond to certain events.
To set something like that up took a lot of figuring things out, but with creativity and understanding of how the game works, we were able to pull it off. It's my favorite campaign so far.
The purpose of this blog is to help others find creative ways to bring their D&D games to life. There are so many different ways to be creative. It is really about "what would I like to see in my game?" The fun part is that there really is no wrong answer. I am going to share what I have learned and continue to learn about making D&D campaigns come to life and bringing characters off the page.

I know way more about D&D than most and I am not even a player! My husband teaches gaming and transmedia storytelling and he and his students started a stream on Twitch called Campfire Quest. They built a streaming studio in my dining room and have been going strong for years! I swear, Critical Role is on constant play in the background of my house at all times.
